Slim pants, gingham prints, ruffle details and a hint of Western style— just a few trends spotted Jan. 12 at the California Mart’s Collective Fashion Show held at the mart’s Fashion Theater.

The runway show included several designers and highlighted key looks for Summer 2001. It’s looking as though pants are this season’s essential item, even when temperatures are usually expected to get hot.

Long, lean and low-waisted is the silhouette, but designers creatively take it from there. A taste of country seems to be coming this way.

Western references such as saddle stitching on leather and sweet gingham and plaid prints showed up looking mighty fine.

There were feminine touches, as well. Ruffles on silk tops and skirts and big, watery floral prints were favorites. And ’80s influences remain afloat with asymmetrical tops, sparkly denim and belts still feeling new.

Lela Rose sent a slew of colorful minis down the runway on Sept. 12 during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week that proved to be a hit — in fact, at the time we got to chat with both Alison Brie and Jessica Lowndes they both sighted the label as their favorite so far!

“It was an awesome show, it was my first Fashion Week experience and I loved the dresses,” Jessica said.
